Sports & Games Facilities

The beauty of a holiday at La Charrière is that no matter what the season or the weather, there is always something to do here – you need never be bored! We have a couple of barns on-site and one of these is equipped as a games area. You’ll find table tennis, pool and darts in here. The big barn next door has a concrete floor lined out for badminton, but can also be set up for volleyball, indoor tennis, 3-a-side basketball or even football.

Outdoors:

  • Large, heated outdoor swimming pool (available May to September).
  • Games barns equipped for pool, plus all kinds of ball and racket games.
  • Bikes for all shapes and sizes (we have over 15 well maintained bicycles for your use).
  • Swing set/climbing frame suitable for young children.
  • Fishing (not for eating though!) in the large pond on-site.
  • Swingball
  • Archery – there’s a small charge for targets and lost arrows.
  • Golf, horse riding, canoeing and fishing are all available within a 30 minute drive.
  • Countryside walks – the rural setting makes La Charrière a perfect starting point for countryside walks to the river, along quiet country lanes to abandoned chapels and further afield to the gorge and waterfall at Grifferus.

Indoors:

The gites are both full of books, games, music and films, so even rainy days can be full of fun. We do our best to have things for all ages on hand, so children and adults should all be able to entertain themselves happily. Complete one of the impossible jigsaw puzzles during your stay, or plan a murder mystery dinner for your group one evening!

In summer, you can try your hand at painting or drawing a view across one of the fields, and in winter you can curl up in front of the fire and read a new book, or perhaps an old favourite. We have a DVD library with over 100 films which guests can request and borrow at no extra charge, and there’s free wi-fi.

From our guestbook:

“Dear Paul, this is just to thank you for allowing us to have such a good holiday. Holidays are very important for carers as well as the disabled person together with, of course, the other children of the family. Everyone of us will remember and talk about the holiday we have just had with you for the rest of our lives. Thank you. Incidently the overall cost of our holday with you was less than last year, when we rented a cheaper gite. The reason for this is because your wonderful facilities meant we did not feel the need to go out very much, and going out inevitably involves spending money!!”

Best wishes and again many thanks, Chris Adams
