Terms & Conditions

TERMS OF SALE
Terms and conditions for the rental accommodation at Gites La Charriere

1. Booking and deposit

Your booking will not be considered to be finalised until we have received the requested non-refundable deposit (20% of the total charge).

We request the balance of the sum to be paid 6 weeks prior to the letting.

If cancellation is requested more than 10 weeks prior to the start of the letting, we will endeavour to re-let and return your deposit to you. If cancellation is requested 10 and 6 weeks prior to the start of the letting, we will retain the deposit but you will not be required to pay the balance. If cancellation is requested after the balance has been paid and we are unable to re-let, then neither the deposit nor the balance will be returned.

2. Tax de séjour

In France adults are required to pay a ‘tax de séjour’ for each night you stay in holiday accommodation. This is a local tax which goes towards the improvement of local tourist facilities. The ‘tax de séjour’ is 0.85 Euros per adult (over 18) per night.

3. Numbers of people/mix of party

We do not expect the numbers of people staying to exceed the number given on booking. If you wish friends or family to visit and stay for a night please check with us first that this is appropriate.

We also request that you give us accurate information regarding the mix of your party – this is not only important for our completion of the tax de séjour assessment, but also helps us with arranging rooms and hopefully achieving a happy mix of children/adults on site at any given period. In due course we will ask how you wish the bedrooms to be set up as we do this before you arrive and ask you leave the rooms as you find them on arrival for the duration of your stay. We prefer adults to occupy the two bedrooms at first floor level in Le Chene.

4. Duration of letting

Lettings are by usually by the week from 4pm on the day of arrival to 10am on the day of departure. Lettings are normally Saturday to Saturday (unless by special agreement). We will of course welcome guests for shorter periods (not less than 3 days in the months of October through to the end of May. We require the “time lapse” between arrival and departure to enable the property to be inspected, bed linen to be changed and all necessary cleaning done to ensure everything is in good order for the next guests.

5. Care of the property, Cleaning/leaving and Rubbish.

We ask that guests respect the property, furnishings and fittings. We understand that items do get broken, and would request that guests inform us immediately if this happens. If breakages or damage occurs due to lack of responsibility or misuse, we would expect guests to pay for repair or replacement of items.

We ask the guests do not smoke inside the property (this includes the barns) and that if they do smoke in the grounds any cigarette ends are placed immediately in a bin.

The rental charge includes gas and electricity, the use of bed linen and towels, the provision of some cleaning materials and dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls and bin bags for the first few days of your stay, after that period you will need to provide your own.

We do ask that guests strip their beds before leaving, empty the fridge/freezer/dishwasher, bins including toilet bins etc., and put back things that they have moved around to where they were. so as to leave everything as they found it. There is only sufficient time on changeover day for cleaning the essential things such as cooker/fridge, washing floors and making beds, so your co-operation in this area is greatly appreciated. We may need to do some outside cleaning or the cleaning of windows during your stay, which we will aim to do when you are away from the property.

During and on completion of your stay guests should take their recyclable rubbish to the local village as well as that which is non recyclable as we do not have a formal rubbish collection. We will explain how this works locally on arrival.

6. Parents are responsible for their children’s safety and behaviour on site at all times.

7. Use of swimming pool, sports facilities and bicycles

The swimming pool is heated between mid May and mid October. It has a safety shutter which will be closed if the pool is not being used or the weather is inclement to help conserve the heat, but we are always happy to open it on request. The pool is also walled, with a gate – we ask that people keep the gate closed for security.

Children under the age of 12 are not allowed in the pool unless a responsible adult of your party is in or alongside the pool to supervise them. If that responsible adult has to leave the pool area for any reason the children must also leave the pool area. All footwear must be removed on entering the pool area. No sticks, toys (other than inflatables) food or drink are permitted within the pool area. (The pool liner is soft and could be easily damaged by any sharp objects).

We request that sports items are used solely for the purposes intended. Any items damaged during the guest’s stay are to be replaced by them. Guests may need to purchase consumables such as shuttlecocks, table tennis balls etc.

There are bicycles to fit most sizes and levels of ability. We would ask that guests check that tyres are adequately pumped up before using them, and that bicycles are returned to the proper place when they are not in use. We would also ask that guests inform us immediately if there appears to be a problem with any of the bicycles as we endeavour to ensure that all bicycles are in good working order.

8. Pets.

We do not allow visitors to bring any pets to site.

9. WIFI

We do provide WIFI to both Gites. However please be aware the Gites are located in the countryside and as such the connection we have to the internet is not as strong as those living in urban areas may be used to. If all of your party logs on and keeps connected with mobile phones (the signal here can also be variable), tablets and computers the service will be slow. So by trying to keep the number of units connected at any one time you will increase the chance of a better service.

10. Consideration of others on site

We have two gites on site, and do ask that all our guests are considerate to others on the site, particularly being conscious of noise levels and the behaviour of their children and of the need to share the outdoor and sports facilities.

11. Insurance

We request that guests using our gites have adequate personal insurance to cover them against accidents etc., a current EHIC card in case of health issues, and adequate insurance for their property to cover against loss or damage whilst on site. We are not able to be liable for any personal accidents or injury, or damage to or loss of personal property whilst you are on site.

If you have any questions regarding the above please feel free to contact us either by phone or by email. We are normally on site and are happy to try and help with any difficulties which present themselves during your stay. We hope you will enjoy your stay.
